Testimonials
"Shannon was such a treasure to find for our son! She is caring, patient, fun, engaging, and incredibly passionate in her work. At the time, my son had very few words and difficulty adjusting to new people. She was so compassionate and really took the time to build a relationship with him while also working towards his speech goals. She has such a natural way with kids and always found ways to tie in his interests to sessions to help keep him engaged. He warmed up to her quickly and enjoyed his time with her! His communication developed so much while working with Shannon and we were so grateful for her. She also took the time to work with me to best support my son in between sessions. We absolutely love Shannon and any kiddo that gets to work with her is very lucky!" - Preschool parent
"Please trust me when I say that Shannon Paul will not only support and develop your child's speech skills, but will also nurture and build their confidence as they explore different speech practices and philosophies through play and engagement. For our family, that nurturing approach was the trick. My husband and I were lucky to meet Shannon when we realized that our third child (18 months at the time) wasn't speaking more than a handful of words - mostly attempts at family member's names. It was early 2021, and COVID was in full swing. It was a busy and stressful time and our third child's lack of speech skills slipped from our awareness until we were at his 18 month check up. Support options were significantly limited due to COVID. We were lucky to learn about Shannon's availability and approach during this time. Her commitment to being in person was key to our child's success. We worked together to manage the restrictions of the time (wearing masks, etc.). Shannon is SO intentional about everything she does and always thinks about your little learner. She even wore a plastic mask so our son could see her mouth and copy the movements as he was learning. Shannon will make it fun for your child-- our child was always so thrilled to see Shannon as their time together felt more like a playdate. Don't hesitate!" - Toddler parent
"The first time I talked with Shannon about providing speech therapy for my 12-year-old daughter, I was extremely impressed with her level of expertise as a Speech and Language Pathologist. Her questions helped me to clearly explain my daughter’s long list of complex diagnoses, including an asymmetry in her mouth due to a missing or underdeveloped muscle. Shannon listened carefully as I shared my concerns about my daughter’s speech, and her attention to the smallest of details was evident throughout the conversation. On the day of the evaluation, Shannon walked into our house with a big, warm smile immediately putting my daughter at ease. Effortlessly, Shannon began establishing a rapport with my daughter by asking about her favorite activities and taking a genuine interest in the things that were important to her. My pre-teen had asked for speech therapy saying that her articulation issues made her sound like she was much younger than her age, but she was sensitive and embarrassed about her speech and what she felt was a “crooked” smile. Shannon’s kind and supportive approach helped my daughter relax and feel comfortable. The evaluation report Shannon sent me soon after was detailed, thorough and accurate showing that she had taken the time to fully understand not only my daughter’s articulation needs but also her complex presentation. Shannon provided speech therapy to my daughter while she was in 6th and 7th grade, and every, single time she walked into our home smiling and happy to be here. It is quite evident that Shannon loves children and is passionate about the work she does with them. She always asked my daughter about the things going on in her life before they sat down to start a session. Each session began with Shannon clearly and efficiently explaining to my daughter what they were going to do that day so that she knew just what to expect. The sessions were always well planned and goal oriented with a clear purpose for each activity. Shannon’s calm and focused approach kept each session feeling relaxed and positive. Shannon gave my daughter a clicker allowing her to take charge of counting the number of times she practiced each skill. Shannon was encouraging and supportive making my daughter feel like she could succeed. My daughter appreciated receiving authentic praise when it was deserved. Each week noticeable gains were made as my daughter put into practice all that she had learned. She was thrilled! I have worked in public and private schools for 25 years and sat in on countless speech therapy sessions for students, preschool through grade 8, who had minimal to significant speech and
language needs, and I can say, with complete confidence that Shannon is a masterful speech and language pathologist. If you are looking for a professional who is committed to knowing, understanding and helping your child succeed, I highly recommend Shannon!" - Parent of a GDRSD Middle School Student
